Hi, I’m Eliana.

I’m a UX Designer based in Stuttgart, Germany, currently working at EPLAN, where I design cloud-based engineering solutions.

My professional focus is on concept development and information architecture for complex systems in engineering, automation, and cloud-based products. It involves connecting human needs and system logic through storytelling and contextual analysis to define user requirements, model system structures, and establish the foundations for product design.

I’m driven by curiosity about how people, processes, and systems connect, and by using design to make complexity understandable.

With over 10 years of experience, I combine strategic thinking with hands-on design to turn insights into scalable solutions.

My design approach

I work with a systems-thinking mindset, paying attention to how structure, flow, and communication shape the overall user experience. My role often involves clarifying concepts and workflows, aligning terminology, and establishing a shared understanding across teams and products.

I value close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to ensure that ideas are both practical and scalable. I like shaping concepts from the ground up — aligning goals, researching with users, prototyping early, and validating ideas iteratively.

Professional experience

My path in UX design has evolved through various domains — from finance and building automation to engineering and cloud systems — always guided by a focus on structure, clarity, and usability.

from 2022

At EPLAN, I’m part of the Cloud Engineering Solutions team, where I design collaborative tools that connect workflows and data across multiple products. I’ve worked on identifying automation opportunities between different cloud applications by collaborating with business owners and validating ideas through user interviews and usability tests. Currently, I focus on integrating reusable cloud data between a dedicated data management app and a graphical editor, where the data is presented as structured libraries.

2021 – 2022

Previously, at M-Way, I worked as a Product Designer on a facility management app that enables building operators to control automations such as lighting, temperature, and occupancy. I also helped design dedicated mobile applications related to IoT, along with interactive maps for indoor navigation in fairs and office environments.

2018 – 2021

Earlier, at the startup BIM-Systems, I helped shape the overall product strategy and define several core products, supporting investor engagement and continued development. I led design thinking workshops, conducted customer interviews, and established a regular usability process. I mapped processes involving different roles interacting with BIM content, which helped identify changes needed to improve information flow across the building lifecycle and designed solutions to support these changes — including a BIM component library that provided planners structured access to manufacturer data through CAD plugins.

2014 – 2018

My UX career began at Crealogix, where I designed finance dashboards and budgeting tools. My main project focused on defining the overall UX of an inline content editor for post-login content management. I also contributed to the company’s first design system, creating a unified interaction language across different locations.

2012-2014

During my studies and internships, I worked at the Digital Arts Center of the University of Bremen as a history researcher and content editor. I also worked as a freelance web designer for the Women Equality Office of the HfK Bremen. During my internship at Milla & Partner, I focused on interaction design for exhibitions.

What drives me

I’m motivated by curiosity, clarity, and sustainability — and by exploring how thoughtful design can connect people, data, and technology in meaningful ways.

Originally from Colombia, I’ve built my career in Germany, working daily in German- and English-speaking environments. Being multilingual and culturally adaptable has shaped how I collaborate and empathize with diverse users.

Outside of work, I find inspiration in cultural diversity, art-house cinema, and nature. I also enjoy cycling, which helps me clear my mind and see things from new perspectives.
